Aton® Connect for Windows XP Embedded Offers Enterprises Secure and Reliable Access to Critical Mainframe Data Without Changes to Mainframe Programming

November 28, 2001 – Aton International, Inc. announced today that the company will be releasing the Aton Connect for Microsoft Windows XP Embedded software on December 15, 2001. This ActiveX component allows remote devices operating Windows XP Embedded, such as automatic teller machines, point of sale systems, and manufacturing controllers, the ability to securely access data on enterprise mid-range and mainframe computers without mainframe programming changes.
The Aton Connect provides for multiple 3278 terminal emulation sessions and allows remote devices operating Windows XP Embedded access to critical data located on mid-range and mainframe
systems through a virtual screen and virtual keyboard paradigm. Key features of the Aton Connect for Windows XP Embedded include:
- Small memory and resources footprint ideal for the Windows XP Embedded platform,
- Easy, fast integration with existing mainframe programming minimizing implementation time and costs,
- Total control of virtual screen, keyboard and error messages by application program allowing for seamless data integration, and
- Standard TCP/IP use for communication through the Internet or a VPN assuring high security and reliability.

The Aton Connect terminal emulation will also be available for the Windows XP desktop operating system, Windows .NET Server, and Pocket PC 2002 systems. All versions of the product allow virtual terminal access to mainframe systems such as CICS, VM/CMS, MVS, and other systems that support the TN 3270 Internet protocol. The Aton Connect is sold with an enterprise license that is ideally suited to the company wishing to deploy a number of units within its organization.
