Under a series of multiyear contracts totaling over $200 million with the US. Department of Defense, Savi’s products and services have been used in deployments that support US. military
logistics operations throughout 800 nodes, tracking more than 350,000 assets annually in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Savi has also developed and implemented several projects that
required interfacing with legacy systems.
One project involved the utilization of barcodes for real time management of supply inventories for the US Army. Savi needed to develop an application which would interface
real-time inventory information with the legacy Standard Depot System (SDS). The solution would
allow authorized workers to track inventory with handheld scanners, compare the data with that in SDS, and update the legacy system with the corrected data. Savi’s development team needed a
straightforward, cost-effective way to interface their solution with SDS.
Jerry Bredesen, Program Manager for Savi Technology said that they tested a free trial copy of Aton® Connect for XP/2000/NT
and found that, using the product’s Toolkit in conjunction with phone support from Aton International, it was an excellent solution for their host access requirements.
