When we first developed terminal emulation for Windows Phones in 2002, we had all of the emulations together in one app. But it eventually became clear that the needs of customers accessing IBM mainframe and mid-range servers are very different from those of Linux and UNIX users.

So we split one product into two and included the security and other features that were most in demand for each type of terminal emulation. I am very proud to announce the release of Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 for the latest Windows Phones. The complete press release is shown below.

Charles Wilde

Summary: New version of Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 mobile software gives data center administrators and mobile workers access to the mission critical data they need from Windows Phones. This latest edition provides SSL security using the Microsoft Security Framework built into the phones. The mobile app installs on the phone and communicates with enterprise servers using the company’s existing terminal emulation infrastructure. ROI is very fast because implementation does not require SOA or new middleware.

Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) – March 26, 2010 – Aton International, Inc.(www.aton.com), Trusted Mobile Applications and Embedded Systems developers, today announced the release of Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 v8.5 for Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5. The app provides data center/system administrators and IT professionals a fast, secure way to access data center servers and initiate mainframe modernization projects without major investments in SOA or new middleware.

Because server issues crop up at odd hours, this mobile app gives system administrators rapid access on their phones to terminal applications from outside the data center at any time. Faster access to business critical information and better customer service are mandatory in today’s economy. Enterprise integration managers can use Aton Connect as a low cost way to introduce a modernization project to a sales or business unit using smartphones to give staff actionable information wherever they are.

Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 accesses corporate data from IBM System z (mainframes) and IBM System i (AS/400) servers. These robust transaction processing machines are used in retail, government, banking and finance, transportation, and manufacturing.

The mobile app works with a company’s existing infrastructure to provide remote access to enterprise servers from a Windows Phone using time-tested terminal emulation secured with SSL or VPNs. The tiny software client displays mainframe “green screens” on the users’ phone just like similar terminal emulation applications on the user’s notebook or desktop. There is no new server software to buy. The application resides totally on the phone. It is not necessary to modify programming on the enterprise servers themselves, saving time and expense. This makes Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 a quick-to-implement option with fast ROI for meeting data needs of mobile workers.

Ease of use features include portrait or landscape full screen mode, full terminal emulation soft keyboard on the touch screen, the ability to record macros, programmable keys to save time on input and “on the fly” session switching which allow the user to access both host server and corporate intranet or the Internet without having to exit a program. An incoming phone call will send the user’s data session to the background where it is easily retrieved once the phone call is over.

This latest version of Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 accommodates all of popular phones with touch screens that use the Windows Mobile operating system such as HTC TouchPro II, Samsung Omnia II, HTC Pure, LG eXpo and many more.

The downloadable software license is very modestly priced at $9.99 USD per device making small deployments highly affordable for IT system administrators, sales teams, field service teams, college and university administrators and others who want real time access to enterprise data at a very low cost. Enterprise licenses that feature easy remote deployment and single registration code are also available.

30 day trial software can be downloaded from the Aton Connect product page. Knowledgeable technical support from Aton International, Inc. is available for trial users so that testers are able to get a working result in the shortest time possible. There is also a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Licenses for Aton Connect for 3270 and 5250 may be purchased on the company’s website www.aton.com, at Windows Marketplace for Mobile (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/meet/marketplace.mspx), MobiHand.com, Share-It.com based in the US and Europe and and also through a number of corporate resellers.
