Aton Connect for Windows Mobile allows you to deploy enterprise data to
your mobile workforce using the infrastructure you already own.
Think of Aton Connect for Windows Mobile as like another type of web browser
for information stored on your host mainframe or mid-range server.
The concepts are very similar, just with a different technology set. Instead of
the HTTP communication protocol used for web browsers we use variations of the TELNET
protocol.
Instead of the HTML markup language used for web browsers, we use 3270,
5250, or VT220 data stream format as a markup language. Instead of a web server
such as Apache or IIS, we use a TN3270, TN5250 or TELNET server. With Aton Connect,
the end result is the same, your ability to view information stored
on a host server.
Our software client combines a .NET component (also called Host
Integration Object) with a user interface that looks like the screen of
a 3270, 5250 or VT220 terminal. You use it with the TN3270, TN5250, or
Linux/Unix servers your company already owns to deliver data to mobile
workers.
